International Day Remembering Slavery

International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is 23rd August. This day which commemorates the slave uprisings in Santa Domingo (modern day Haiti and Dominican Republic). UNESCO in 1998, officially designated this day as Slavery Remembrance Day, a reminder that enslaved Africans were the main agents of their own liberation. Read more
