The Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award 2007

Artist in Residence Project and Commission at Mile End Hospital, London, in the Gerry Bennett Ward which cares for older people with physical and mental health problems.

Paintings in Hospitals (PiH), a registered charity dedicated to improving the healthcare environment through the provision of original works of art, offer, with the support of the Max Reinhardt Charitable Trust, this annual award to visual artists working in any medium.

The winning artist, preferably with ‘artist in residence’ or healthcare experience, will be required to work on site to involve patients, staff and visitors in creative activities suitable for the ward and it’s users and to produce a site-specific work of art for permanent display in the hospital and another for PiH’s loan collection.

After completion of the residency the artist will be offered a two week solo exhibition at PiH’s gallery at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London, SE1. The appointed artist will need a Criminal Records Bureau check to be carried out by the hospital.
