Hackney based artists wanted for Spice Festival 2007

January 3, 2007 by

Now well established and in its third year, The Spice Festival is an independently produced, world class celebration of the unique cultural life of Hackney and
the East End.

Spice 2006 was a huge success and saw appearances from Hackney-based artists such as Tom Hunter, Gilles Peterson, Lost Vagueness, and Michael Nyman to name a
few. As well as celebrating the calibre of established artists such as these, Spice has been a great profile-raiser for smaller companies and artists too.

From 2006, two companies went on to win fringe firsts at Edinburgh and a further three gained commissions from The London Mime Festival, LIFT and the Berliner

Festival organisers are now looking for Hackney-based artists across all genres for Spice 2007. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your work and show a wider
audience what Hackney is made of and why it’s so special.

So if you are a musician, a dancer, a theatre company, a band, a puppeteer, a film maker, a live artist, a photographer, a curator, a clown, a fashion designer or any Hackney-based artist with a vision and a voice – they would like to hear from you.

Spice Festival 2007 is on July 8th – 22nd
