Windrush writer to be buried in Islington

Peter Fryer, journalist and author of ‘Staying Power:The History of Black People in Britain’, died 31st October and is to be buried Wednesday 8th November at 2pm at Islington Crematorium.

He is perhaps best know for his book Hungarian Tragedy in which he chronicalled the uprisings in Hungary in 1956. It was in his work as a journalist for the Daily Worker that he covered the story of the arrival of Jamaican workers on the Empire Windrush on June 22nd 1948.
